Kazakhstan – Customs and Import duty tax calculation method

Customs Duties or Import duty and taxes will be pending and need to be cleared while importing goods into Kazakhstan Either by a private individual or a commercial entity.

The valuation method is CIF.

  • The import duty and taxes payable are calculated on the complete shipping value, which includes the cost of the imported goods, the cost of freight and the cost of insurance. In addition to duty, imports are subjected to GST sales tax, and in some cases to excise duty.
  • Along with Import duty, import goods are also subject to Sales Tax and Excise Duty.

There are 2 categories of import goods in Kazakhstan:

  1. Personal products
  2. Commercial products

NOTE:

  • Personal imports which cross the threshold mentioned in the table above will be subjected to 30% tax and this rate applies on excess of mentioned value and weight limits.
  • Excise taxes apply to the sale and import of crude oil, gas condensate, petrol/gasoline (excluding aviation fuel), diesel fuel, spirits and alcoholic beverages, beer, tobacco.
  • The import of products like single items or sets of goods weighing more than 35kg (e.g. a refrigerator, a set of furniture) are subjected to duty per the Common Customs Tariff.
  • Commercial products are subjected to duty and taxes irrespective of CIF value and weight as there isno threshold got commercial products.
  • Kazakhstan applies duties and tariffs of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Common Customs Tariff.
